TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SUPERMARATHON

1.    GENERAL RULES

1.1    The protection of the route of the race is supported by the police and the organizers. The race does not lead on closed route, thus the participants have to proceed with full attention, carefully and with respect to the traffic regulations! Special attention has to be paid to the most critical section of the race, where the route crosses the main roads and streets. The police vehicle leading the race goes for the first runner of the field, and can not be passed by any runner, cyclist or roller-skater, because in this case the participant withdraws  imself from the protection of the police and the organizers. The protection of the race applies to the section behind the leading police vehicle.
 

1.2    During the race, runners can only use the right side of the road (as to direction).

1.3    During the accreditation, the Organizing Committee  issues start numbers for the competitors, and numbers for the accompanying cars and bycicles too. These have to be weared or rather be placed in their original sizes. It is not allowed to place any other sign, logo, etc. on the start number.
The individual competitors have to place their start    numbers both on the front and back of their shirts. The members of the relay teams have to place the start number of their team on the front, the number of relay on the back of their shirts.

1.4    The Organizing Committee issues distinctive signs for the accompanying cars during the accreditation which has to be placed visibly on the back and front window of the car (rigth-upper corner). Only the placement of this sign on the vehicle entitles them to accompany the runners as set in the rules. The accompaniers going by bicycles have to wear the sign visibly on their back.
It is forbidden to accompany the runners directly and continuously by car!
It is allowed to accompany the runner directly and continuously by bike. The participants can only be refreshed an assisted from a parking vehicle. The vehicle can only park in the crossing roads, lay-bys and parking lots of the relay points and on the roadside so that it does not disturb the road traffic and does not touch the surface of the road. In the interest of the safety of the racers and the traffic, the accompanying vehicles (bike excepted) will be turned to a bypass on the not useable roads.


In Austria: on the section after the start, and later  on the „Wine-tour road”; in add. in the near of some relay stations.
In Slovakia: in the finish ot first day, after the start on the secon day and in the near of some relay stations.
In Hungary: in the finish of Győr, after the start of day 3., on the cycle pathes, in the near of relay stations, and on the full route of international halfmarathon at the last day (Budakeszi-Budapest).


1.5    Before the daily starts, the individual runners have to register to that day’s race at the race office, the leaders of the relay teams have to report the order of relay changes of the team and they have to name the reserve.

1.6    The help of the race board’s members and of doctors and masseurs accredited for the race is available during the whole time of the race

1.7    The Org. Comm. introduces ChampionChip as official timekeeping of the Supermarathon. The occurant „stand-by” times at the barriers f.e. will be kept manually. Athe chip must be placed on the shoes max. 20 cm high above the ground to get clear signal.  There is no deposit fee for the disposable chip, competitors do not need to return it. Attention! Dangerous refuse!

1.8    The race jury fixes time limits for each day and each section. (Any problem emerging from using the team’s own vehicle is not respected by the jury.)
Individuals have to finish the race at the day’s closing time. He can continue racing the next day. His result will be stated by the Organizing Committee on the basis of the covered distance, resp. the total time.
In case of teams, at closing time the given racer will be carried to the next relay point by the organizers, and his relay-partner can start only at arrival of this former racer. The result of the relay teams is in this case stated by the organizers on the basis of the covered distance, resp. the total time. 

1.9    Runners who give up the race on the way are obliged to take off their start number and announce the fact of giving up to the nearest race controller.

1.10    The runner who shows unpreparedness during the race can be disqualified by the president of the race jury. The runners have immediately to back out of the race if they get a warning from the official doctor of the race to do so.

1.11    On the first day, there are 500-800m long dirt roads. Inline skaters should give much attendance on these sections.

2.    SPECIAL RULES OF THE RELAY COMPETITION

2.1    Mixed teams (consisting of men and women) are allowed to start, their results are considered in the men’s category.

2.2    The reserves named by the teams are obliged to enter the race on one of the first four days. During a daily distance, the reserve runner can only start only in case of a traffic accident with the approval of the jury. If an athlete brakes the rules of the traffic regulation (f.e. runs on the left side of the road) and suffers an injury through an accident, the reserve runner won’t get the approval of the jury, so the team has to finish the race on that day. In case of an accident, jury permits time bonus following the undermentioned rules:
  • In case of an accident the team informs the racedoctor by phone (phone numbers are available for every participants). The doctor registrates the time of the report, goes immediately to the location  and makes sure of the facts. The doctor informs the jury, and by common assent they decide about setting the reserve athlete in to the competition.
  • The passed time between the date of informing the doctor and the decision of the jury will be credited later as time bonus.
2.3    The relay of the members of teams happens by giving over the start number on the relay changing place. So-called pre-change is only allowed accordin to the pint 2.2. Teams performing a relay change against the rules can be disqualified by the jury.

2.4    On the 5th day of the race each runner (even the reserves of the relay teams) can toe the line. The added times of the four best runners are included in the result of the team.

3.    OTHER RULES

3.1    During the whole competitions, the jury takes the decision in questions relating to the rules of the race. All these decisions will be published in the next day’s result lists.

3.2    One can hand in a protest applying to the certain daily races to the chairman of the race jury within one hour after the closing-time. In case of individual runners the protest should be handed in personally, in case of    relay teams it shall be done by the team leader. The protest fee is HUF 2.000,-. The decision will be announced to the affected runners latest 30 minutes before the start of the next day’s race.

3.3    An order of start-succession will be decided by the  Organizing Committee for every day. In Vienna, the winners of the last year’s Supermarathon (individual and relays) and the austrian competitors (in Bratislava: the slovaikan athletes) will start from the first two lines, and in the next days always the firsts of the    previous day’s racers. At the daily starts, the wheelchair participants starts 30 seconds before the runners. Cyclists, roller-skaters and the runners assistants on bike start behind the runners. On the last day, cyclists and inline skaters can go behind the    runners, and it is not allowed for them to overtake or accompany the runners.

3.4    During the competition, doping controls can be carried through on the runners by specialists authorized by the Organizing Committee.

3.5    Those breaking the rules can be punished by the following punishments (next site)

3.6    After dark, runners and their assistants on bike being within limit time on the route have to wear a light. (On demand, the organizers provide red flash.)

3.7    Every protest will be checked and judged by the jury. Protest reported by athletes must be proved doubtless.

3.8    In questions which are not discussed in these rules, are the rules of the Hungarian Athletic Association and of the IAAf to follow.

Those breaking the rules can be punished by the following punishments:

a.)    Breaking the traffic rules:

•    crossing of the railway on red light or by sindication of any police: immediate exclusion from the competition.
•    Driving with accompanying vehicles into restricted area: 15 min. penalty time.
•    Stopping of the accompanying car in restricted area: 10 min. penalty time.
•    Bycicle driver, skater and accompanying bycicle driver: breaking the traffic rules (driving in the middle of the road, cars driving next to each other): 3 min. penalty time.
•    Irregular parking of the accompanying car near the road: 3 min. penalty time.

b.)    Breaking the competition rules:


•    In case of a traffic accident, the team sets the reserve athlete without the permission of the jury:immediate exclusion of the race. Relaying not at the relay station: immediate exclusion of the race.
•    Transportation of an athlete: immediate exclusion of the race.
The accompanying car drives near or right behind the runner: 15 min. penalty time.
•    The accompanying car is accompanyies and refreshes without valid start number, and if the start number is not placed in the car as ordered in the rules (see 1.4): 15 min. penalty time.
•    The accompanying car is refreshing the athlete while moving: 5 min. penalty time.
•    The runner is running on the left side of ther road: 3 min. penalty time.
•    The runner is not running on the maked route: 3 min. penalty time.
